SUBJECT: Stamping 25 Cigarette Packages in
Cartons of Ten

Effective September 1, 1986, the Department of Taxation will have for sale a new roll of 25 stamps which is to be used on the cigarette packages of 25's in cartons of 10 packs per carton or the 1 X 10 configuration. The stamps will be in rolls of 4800 stamps per roll at a cost of $150.00 less 10% discount for a net aunt of $135.00 per roll. This roll is for use on the R. J. Reynolds stamping machines.

The stamps for use on packs of 25 cigarettes are available only from the Virginia Department of Taxation, Richmond, Virginia. When ordering any cigarette tax stamps by mail, a certified check, cashier's check or money order made payable to the Virginia Department of Taxation for all stamps purchased must be included with the Form TT-2 (Rev. 7/86). If a wholesaler has a bond on file with the Department, he may pay for the stamps by business check. A separate business check made payable to the Postmaster, Richmond, Virginia for the exact amount of postage must accompany each order. It is no longer necessary to have a certified check, cashier's check or money order for the postage.

The current roll of 25 stamps for the 1 X 9 configuration will no longer be available.

All orders for stamps should be mailed to the Department of Taxation, Post Office Box 1301, Richmond, Virginia 23210-1301.

Enclosed is a supply of revised Form TT-2 and a rate schedule for the rolls of 4800-25's. Please destroy all Forms TT-2 dated prior to July, 1986.
