I am humbled to accept the appointment by Governor Glenn Youngkin to serve as the next Tax Commissioner of the Commonwealth of Virginia, subject to the confirmation of the Virginia General Assembly. This incredible opportunity to serve allows me to leverage my many years of government and private practice leadership experience to assist our outstanding Commonwealth, my home state.
I extend my gratitude to Governor Youngkin and Secretary of Finance Stephen Cummings for their confidence in me. I look forward to the confirmation process conducted by the Virginia House of Delegates and the Senate. Additionally, I want to recognize and thank retiring Commissioner Craig Burns, who has led this organization with superlative skills for the past 14 years and has been instrumental in helping me through this transition. Virginia Tax is, stated simply, the best tax administration organization in the U.S., filled with people who have a passion for what they do for our Commonwealth.
I appreciate the work experiences with exceptional people that have prepared me for this opportunity, and look forward to serving the Commonwealth, an incredible honor.
